Milwaukee Zoological AdventuresAt Milwaukee County Zoo

Adventures do not have to be to faraway places and one great local destination Ive found to see and photograph wild animals is only a short distance away from me at the local Zoo in Milwaukee County.  I am very fortunate to live only about ten miles from one of the finest zoological attractions in the country, the Milwaukee County Zoo.  It is the home for more than 1700 mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles of over 350 species.  Photographing and viewing these magnificent animals from around the world will increase awareness and appreciation of their importance in our world.
Equally important, the Zoo is also very much involved in conservation programs and the breeding of endangered species.  In an ideal world, there would be no need for zoos and no endangered species but unfortunately we are very far from that ideal and drifting further away with each passing day.  At an alarming pace the natural habitat necessary for species survival is being encroached upon and destroyed, along with those irreplaceable species within it.  Well maintained and managed zoo habitats like the Milwaukee County Zoo that have an active conservation program are vitally important for creating awareness and encouraging preservation of endangered species around the world.  Its my hope that those who stumble across these pages of my adventure at my local Zoo will enjoy them and learn more about these fascinating creatures and the importance of their preservation. To leave comments, suggestions or questions blog me! , for which there is also a link at the bottom of each page.
